Power, Auto and Generator Step-Up Transformers from PTI Transformers

October 7, 2025

PTI Transformers is one of North America’s leading manufacturers of transformer technology, their two facilities, located in Winnipeg, MB and Regina, SK, can produce transformers up to 600MVA and 525kV.

All transformer design and engineering is completed in-house and decades of experience allows PTI to provide solutions that meet and exceed the most stringent customer specifications.

PTI Transformers uses numerous software applications to verify the designs and simulate field conditions, such as:
  • Short circuit capability
  • Design performance (losses, impedance, temperature gradients, sound level)
  • Impulse voltage
  • 2D electrical & magnetic fields
  • 3D electric field
  • Electromagnetic transients
  • 3D mechanical design and modeling

Each transformer is rigorously inspected throughout the manufacturing process using mature practices and modern equipment.

Every transformer is also tested using state-of-the-art equipment, to verify design criteria, customer requirements, and industry standards, including:
  • Low voltage testing
  • High-voltage dielectric testing
  • Transformer performance and design verification (loss measurement, impedance, etc.)
  • Thermal performance (temperature rise/heat run)
  • Sound level
  • Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA)
  • Control and functional testing
