Protecting Power at Scale: Util-Assist’s SecureAssist
April 7, 2026
Util-Assist’s SecureAssist service is providing physical security for the Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park, the largest operating battery energy storage facility of its kind in Canada. The facility, powered by Tesla Megapacks 2XL, was developed jointly by Boralex Inc. and the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation. The multi-acre site in Ontario stores electricity and releases it when demand is highest, helping to strengthen grid reliability and support renewable energy integration.

As large-scale energy storage becomes increasingly central to grid stability, securing these sites is essential. Preventing unauthorized access, deterring vandalism, and reducing the risk of disruption all play a critical role in maintaining continuous operations and protecting the systems communities depend on.
SecureAssist is an AI-enabled video monitoring service that combines real-time monitoring with utility-trained agents to protect critical infrastructure assets such as substations, DER sites, material yards and more. SecureAssist leverages early threat detection, defensive measures, law enforcement relationships, and rapid response. Specifically designed and built for the critical infrastructure sectors, it helps reduce risk, prevent incidents, and protect service reliability.
The Hagersville battery energy storage project has been awarded the title of Innovative Canadian Clean Energy Project of the Year by the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA).
