Algoma Power Inc. Open House & Ribbon Cutting for Sault Ste Marie Work Centre

September 25, 2023

On Tuesday May 2, 2023 an Open House and official ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Algoma Power Inc. (API)‘s new work centre location in Sault Ste Marie.  Those in attendance included API employees, members of our Executive team, City of Sault Ste. Marie dignitaries including Mayor Shoemaker as well the S.&T. Group and Tulloch Engineering who were directly involved in the construction project.

API built the new facility over the last two years and moved from a lease space, and into their permanent location on 251 Industrial Park Crescent in December, 2022. The facility is now home to API’s Customer Service,  Engineering, Lines, Forestry, Metering, Electrical,  Health, Safety & Environment, Facilities and Administration employees, that are based in Sault Ste. Marie.  The building is energy efficient and has key enhancements such as a Fleet Garage for API’s crew and equipment.

The company focused on sourcing providers from local contractors and businesses within API’s service territory and Sault Ste Marie wherever possible, including materials, service and equipment.  Algoma Power entrusted the S.&T. Group to construct the new facility; leveraging their long-standing reputation for quality work and superior service to customers.

“The new service center will enable API to continue to provide all corporate and operational functions to our customers,” says Jennifer Rose, Regional Manager. “The focus remains providing safe and reliable electricity to our customers and the new building exemplifies API’s ongoing commitment to the environment and to the local communities we serve.”
