Appointment of a New Director at the Régie de l’énergie

July 20, 2023 – During its meeting of July 19, 2023, the Council of Ministers appointed Mr. Michel Simard as director at the Régie de l’énergie.

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Montreal as well as a master’s degree in electrical engineering from McGill University, Mr. Simard currently acts as legal advisor for the City of Montreal. Mr. Simard notably worked as a legal advisor and engineer at Hydro-Québec from 1991 to 2013. Mr. Simard will join our Régie team as of August 7, 2023.

The asset acquisition agreement allows the organizations to explore a wider range of materials and processes for solar applications and promises to accelerate technology development. Terms of the private deal were not announced.
