Newfoundland Power Crews Working to Repair Damage by Lightning in CBN Area

Newfoundland Power crews are working to repair damage to a transmission line caused by a lightning strike last evening in a remote wooded area off Route 80 in Conception Bay North.
Multiple communities between Grates Cove and Ochre Pit Cove were impacted, with approximately 2200 customers experiencing an outage. We understand the inconvenience caused and appreciate residents’ patience as crews work as quickly and safely as possible to complete repairs and restore service.
Due to the remote location of the damage, specialized equipment is required to access the site and make required repairs, which will include pole replacement. Approximately 1000 customers had power restored this morning. Restoration for remaining customers will take place once the repairs are complete, expected by approximately 5:00 p.m. today, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
