EFC Invests in Expanded Government Relations to Strengthen Industry Advocacy

March 24, 2026

New GR structure introduces a council, working committees, and the Electrify Canada Network to expand industry engagement.

Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) is strengthening its Government Relations (GR) efforts through a new investment in dedicated resources focused on industry advocacy on trade and electrification policy.

This expanded capacity will help ensure the electrical industry has a strong, coordinated voice with policymakers while deepening collaboration with organizations including Electricity Canada, Electric Mobility Canada, the Transition Accelerator’s Building Decarbonization Alliance, Clean Energy Canada, and other key partners.

As part of this investment, EFC is introducing a new Government Relations structure designed to increase member engagement and strengthen industry input into advocacy efforts. The structure includes a GR Council, two working committees, and the Electrify Canada Network.

EFC Government Relations (GR) Council.

The GR Council serves as the oversight body for EFC’s Government Relations activities. Comprised of appointed industry executives and board members, the council guides the strategic direction of EFC’s advocacy efforts.

The Council will:
  • Approve EFC’s Government Relations strategic priorities
  • Approve budgets and major initiatives
  • Ensure alignment between industry needs and EFC advocacy efforts

New Government Relations Working Committees

Two Committees are being established to support priority policy areas and provide members with a direct role in shaping EFC’s advocacy initiatives.

Tariffs and Trade Committee

EFC is seeking representation from distributors, domestic manufacturers, North American manufacturers, and international manufacturers. EFC will continue to provide updates to members through our Tariff Hub and newsletter.

Electrification Committee

This committee will include Government Relations professionals with expertise in one or more of EFC’s key electrification pillars: Buildings, Grid, and EV Infrastructure.

Committee members will help:
  • Develop industry positions and policy content
  • Identify and prioritize key policy issues
  • Support resource planning for industry initiatives
  • Provide industry insight to inform EFC’s Government Relations strategy

New: Electrify Canada Network

EFC is also launching the Electrify Canada Network, a new information-sharing platform that will help members stay informed and engaged on electrification policy and industry initiatives.

Through the Network, members will receive:
  • Updates on policy developments and industry initiatives
  • Insights related to electrification and clean energy policy
  • Information on EFC advocacy and engagement activities

Participation in the Network is open to all EFC member organizations and is designed to keep members connected to EFC’s growing work on electrification.

If you or a member of your team would like to participate in one of the committees, please email Cherith Sinasac at csinasac@electrofed.com. To join the Electrify Canada Network, please use this link to register your participation.

By expanding its Government Relations structure and creating new opportunities for member participation, EFC is strengthening the industry’s collective voice as Canada advances toward a more electrified and sustainable future. Further updates on the Government Relations program, including council membership and strategic priorities, will be shared with members in the coming months.
