August 21, 2025
Accord Plastics has announced the acquisition of key assets and equipment from R&M Plastics, following R&M’s bankruptcy in January 2025, as well as thelaunch of a new division, Accord Utility Systems.
Headquartered in Ontario, Accord Plastics is a leading Canadian manufacturer specializing in custom plastic extrusions for over 35 years, serving the Window & Door, Office Furniture, RV, Garage Door, High Rise Window industries.
The acquisition, finalized in April 2025, includes core production assets related to utility pole line components such as guy guards, ground wire molding, and spiral wraps. In addition, Accord Plastics has hired several members of R&M’s experienced sales and technical team to ensure continuity of service and product knowledge for customers across North America.
“This acquisition was a strategic move to expand beyond our traditional custom extrusion work and enter the utility plastics market with a proven product line and skilled team,” said Matthew Ciancio, Vice President of Accord Plastics. “We’re committed to continuing R&M’s legacy of quality and innovation while leveraging our own manufacturing expertise and infrastructure to better serve utility clients.”
To carry this legacy forward and establish a focused identity within the utility market, Accord is proud to announce the launch of Accord Utility Systems, a new product line dedicated to the development, production, and support of high-performance plastic components for utility and infrastructure applications.
With this expansion, Accord Plastics strengthens its position in the infrastructure and utility sectors while remaining focused on operational excellence and customer driven solutions.
“This opportunity stood out because there would be a clear gap within supply chain and we felt that with our material expertise in Polyethylene and custom extrusion capabilities, we would be able to fill those gaps and service the customers well,” explained Ciancio.
“When the opportunity arose to acquire the assets and designs from R&M Plastics, it wasn’t just about adding another product line, it was a strategic move to diversify into a sector with long-term stability, high entry barriers, and strong alignment with our extrusion capabilities.”
There is significant opportunity for growth with the current North American landscape, and Accord Utility Systems is poised to support the market with their new line.
“There is always growth across North America for utility infrastructures in both expansion and replacement projects,” said Ciancio. “We also have a U.S. manufacturing sister plant that will be able to produce our utility product line in the near future, allowing us to support the US utility industry directly. Our cross-border capability gives us a unique advantage in servicing customers across North America with consistent quality, faster lead times and localized support.”
