September 25, 2023
Recently, Elexicon Energy held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the completion of its new Belleville Operations Centre. Elexicon President and CEO, Indrani Butany-DeSouza, was joined by the Honourable Todd Smith, MPP for Bay of Qunite and Minister of Energy; City of Belleville Mayor, Neil Ellis; and the Honourable Shelby Kramp-Neuman, MP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington to celebrate the significant milestone.
The 16,000 square feet facility houses staff from Lines, Metering, Engineering & GIS teams all under one roof, and is a wonderful example of Elexicon’s commitment to the communities that it serves as well as to their economic development and prosperity.
The facility is able to accommodate six large vehicles, and seven small to medium size vehicles. It also stores poles, transformers, cable, and other vital resources for on-going maintenance as well as emergency restorations.
As Elexicon’s eastern energy hub, the organization is committed to supporting the Government of Ontario’s goals to building homes faster and ensuring reliability and resiliency for all customers – residential and commercial.
Plans for the facility began prior to 2020, with an RFP being issued in January 2021. Local firm Taskforce Engineering was awarded the contract in November 2021. Construction on the facility began in April 2022 and final touches were completed in June 2023.
