New Brunswick Energy Cluster Launches to Drive Clean Energy Innovation and Growth

After several months of planning and organization by a steering committee comprised of representatives from industry, academia and Indigenous organizations, with support from government, the New Brunswick Energy Cluster is being launched with 18 inaugural members.
The New Brunswick Energy Cluster is designed to build an interconnected and collaborative network of operators, manufacturers, supply chain participants, Indigenous organizations, innovators and investors to dramatically enhance New Brunswick’s energy profile, broaden knowledge and capability, advance business collaboration, attract investment and amplify clean energy initiatives.
The cluster aims to tackle New Brunswick’s biggest energy challenges by focusing on three major areas: Promoting Collaboration, Fostering Innovation and Skills and Driving Growth. An interim board of directors made up of members from the original steering committee will be in place until the end of the year.
“The New Brunswick Energy Cluster will become a magnet for growth and investment in our province,” said Mark McAloon, Founder & Co-CEO of Smart Energy Company and interim member of the board of directors. “Together, we will build partnerships and projects that contribute to the growth, investment and sustainability of the energy sector in New Brunswick on our path to 2035 and beyond.”

Members of the cluster will benefit from expanded networks, access to the latest developments, opportunities to collaborate, new supply chain activities, enhanced research and development, and more.
“We look forward to building the cluster in close consultation with our members to ensure it effectively addresses their needs,” said Eric Lloyd, President of Sunny Corner Enterprises Inc. and interim member of the board of directors. “This will help us provide the support and resources needed to advance projects and foster industry-wide collaboration. Ultimately, we envision a network that covers the entire energy ecosystem in the province, providing significant value for our members and helping to bring New Brunswick to the forefront of energy transformation.”
“One of the objectives of our Energy Strategy was to support the formation of an industry-led Energy Cluster. I am pleased to see that this is becoming a reality and excited about its potential to drive innovation and growth in our province during this transformational time in the energy sector,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Greg Turner, who is also minister responsible for Opportunities NB.
