Report: Tesla Cuts 500 Employee Supercharger Team
May 2, 2024
A leaked internal memo revealed that Tesla plans to cut its Supercharger department.
Slow EV sales for Tesla has resulted in cost cutting measures by the company, including 14,000 roles being made redundent.
The Supercharger team oversees Tesla’s charging network. Its unclear what impact this will have on the EV charging industry at this point, given that Tesla has opened up its charging network to other automakers. Additionally GM, Ford, and Volkswagon indicated they would be adopting the Tesla charging standard. Another factor will be the talent that is potentially available for other companies in the EV charging space.
