Sogetel Announces an Improvement in Cellular Coverage in Centre-du-Québec

June 23, 2026

Sogetel Mobility announced the construction of ten new cell sites in the Centre-du-Québec region to significantly improve mobile coverage in several rural municipalities. These projects are part of Phase 2 of the Government of Quebec’s Operation Cellular Coverage, for which Sogetel Mobility has been awarded a $30.6 million grant.

By the end of 2026, cell towers will be erected in the municipalities of Bécancour, Inverness (2 sites), Sainte-Hélène-de-Chester, Sainte-Marie-de-Blandford, Sainte-Monique, Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens, Saint-Norbert-d’Arthabaska, Saint-Pierre-Baptiste and Saint-Zéphirin-de-Courval.

This initiative is part of a clear desire to reduce the connectivity gap between urban and rural areas, while addressing a critical need for communities: access to efficient and safe communications.

“These new towers will be built in locations where Sogetel can already serve customers with fibre optics. From now on, citizens will be able to subscribe not only to Internet, television and landline telephone services, but also to cellular telephony,” explains Richard Biron, Vice-President, Corporate Development at Sogetel.

For several years, Sogetel has been investing steadily in the development of its infrastructure in order to better serve rural communities. In particular, the company has deployed fibre optics over a large part of its territory, allowing its customers to benefit from services comparable, and often superior, to those offered in major centres. In the field of cellular telephony, Sogetel Mobility has been pursuing its efforts for more than twenty-five years to extend and improve coverage in the regions.

True to its mission, the company continues to work to connect communities and promote their development by providing them with access to modern, reliable and efficient communication services.
