Pattern Energy Broughton Wind 150 MW Project Selected by Hydro-Quebec
February 7, 2024
Pattern Energy’s Broughton Wind 150 MW project in Québec was one of eight projects approved by Hydro-Québec, part of a 1,550 MW addition of clean energy to the power grid.
Broughton Wind represents a private investment of approximately $478 million.
Pattern Energy is developing the Broughton Wind project on private lands in the municipalities of Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton, Sacré-Coeur-de-Jésus and Thetford in the province of Québec.
During construction, Broughton Wind will create about 150 to 200 jobs, including equipment operators, electricians, labourers, and other professionals from a range of disciplines. We prioritize hiring locally when possible. Once operational, approximately 7 to 10 permanent staff will operate and maintain the facility.
With an expected wind energy generation capacity of up to 150 MW, Broughton Wind will provide safe, affordable, and renewable electricity to power the needs of more than 25,000 homes in Québec yearly.
Electricity produced by Broughton Wind will be sold to Hydro-Québec under a long-term power purchase agreement.
