BC Hydro Adding Higher-Powered Fast Chargers to Its Network

At Fully Charged LIVE Canada, BC Hydro announced it is adding higher-powered chargers to its fast-charging network with the introduction of 180-kilowatt charging units, which can add up to 180 kilometres of driving to an average electric vehicle in about 10 minutes. In addition to being faster, the units also offer dual charging or power sharing, which allows two customers to use the same charger. For example, a 180-kilowatt charger can adjust to provide two 90-kilowatt charging units and allow more drivers to access public charging stations.

Wunnumin Lake First Nation Energized by Wataynikaneyap Power

Wataynikaneyap Power is pleased to announce the energization of Wunnumin Lake First Nation. Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro (NOTL Hydro) is now offering Green Button access to its customer data. Green Button is a standard which allows customers to access their data in a consistent manner across all locations and utilities (gas and electric) in Ontario. With a simple and secure process, customers will be able to securely download (access) or connect (share) their energy usage data in an industry-standard format with registered third parties. As such, this tool will be particularly useful for customers with multiple locations.

The Romaine Complex: Clean Energy for the Next Century

Hydro-Québec inaugurates the Romaine complex, its largest hydroelectric complex since Baie-James. Its four generating stations have now all been commissioned. The complex has an installed capacity of 1,550 MW and annual energy output of 8 TWh—enough to supply 470,000 households. Its energy is clean, renewable and available on demand, and contributes directly to Québec’s prosperity and decarbonization.
