Schneider Electric is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Heitman to the position of Country President, Canada, effective October 1, 2023. Heitman succeeds Adrian Thomas, who announced his departure in June to assume a new role as CEO of Hammond Power Solutions. As Country President for Schneider Electric Canada, Emily will work in partnership with the Canadian leadership team to drive Schneider Electric’s strategic initiatives and accelerate growth across the company’s energy management and automation businesses in Canada.
The governments of Ontario and Quebec are supporting a new 600 megawatt (MW) trade agreement between Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and Hydro-Québec that will optimize the use of existing electricity generation capacity in both provinces. This electricity trade agreement is possible because Ontario and Quebec have complementary seasonal peaks in electricity demand.
ABB is investing in a strategic partnership with Pratexo, an edge-to-cloud acceleration platform company. The partnership involves a minority investment in Pratexo through ABB’s venture capital unit, ABB Technology Ventures (ATV). Financial details of the investment were not disclosed. Pratexo’s technology platform supports IoT and artificial intelligence initiatives which demand compute power at the edge. The company’s technology enables the rapid set up of systems that can process huge amounts of data generated by IoT sensors and run advanced analytics in real time close to the location of the device, rather than in the cloud.
Rexel Canada announced that it has acquired Lineman’s Testing Laboratories of Canada Ltd, a provider of high‐voltage electrical services and products to the utility and industrial markets based in Toronto, ON and Edmonton, AB. The acquisition, which closed in January, will provide Rexel Canada with enhanced opportunities in an attractive and value‐added market.
