ABB has recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire SEAM Group, a major provider of energized asset management and advisory services to clients across industrial and commercial building markets. The acquisition will complement ABB’s Electrification Service offering, bringing significant additional expertise to customers in the areas of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, electrical safety, renewables and asset management advisory services. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and expected to close in Q3 2024. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has named John Wirtz, Southwire’s senior vice president of Utility, as the Chair of its Grid Sector Leadership Committee. NEMA represents over 300 electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers that make safe, reliable, and efficient products and systems. These companies are responsible for 1.65 million American jobs and contribute more than $200 billion to the U.S. economy.
The ABB Board of Directors has appointed Morten Wierod as Chief Executive Officer. He will take office on August 1, 2024, and succeed Björn Rosengren, who will step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer effective July 31, 2024, and retire as of December 31, 2024.
