ABB to Acquire SEAM Group to Expand Electrification Service Offering
ABB has recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire SEAM Group, a major provider of energized asset management and advisory services to clients across industrial and commercial building markets. The acquisition will complement ABB’s Electrification Service offering, bringing significant additional expertise to customers in the areas of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, electrical safety, renewables and asset management advisory services. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and expected to close in Q3 2024. Financial terms were not disclosed.

ABB Appoints Morten Wierod to Succeed Björn Rosengren as CEO
The ABB Board of Directors has appointed Morten Wierod as Chief Executive Officer. He will take office on August 1, 2024, and succeed Björn Rosengren, who will step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer effective July 31, 2024, and retire as of December 31, 2024. From August 1, 2024, until the end of the year, Björn Rosengren will advise and assist Morten Wierod and the Executive Committee to ensure a seamless transition.

Province Updates Act to Prioritize Affordability, Clean Energy
The Province is updating B.C.’s energy objectives in the Clean Energy Act to help ensure that people and businesses continue to have access to affordable, clean electricity needed to power a growing economy, while reducing carbon pollution. “With costs rising across the country at rates that are unsustainable for many people, we are focused on keeping the cost of clean electricity as low as possible,” said Josie Osborne, Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation. “Affordable, stable BC Hydro rates are good for households, businesses and climate as we work together to power B.C.’s growing economy with clean energy instead of fossil fuels.”
