AltaLink Recognized for Reliability Management and Earns Seventh Consecutive Safety Excellence Award

On the eve of November 21, 2023, during Electricity Canada’s Powering Partnerships reception in Ottawa, AltaLink was recognized with two awards for achievements in both reliability management and safety performance. “As Alberta’s largest electricity transmission provider, Albertans depend on us to deliver the energy that they need, when they need it. Hydro One Completes $46.9 Million Investment to Strengthen Transmission System and Improve Resiliency and Reliability in Ottawa

Recently, Hydro One Inc. (Hydro One) was joined by Hydro Ottawa and representatives from the City of Ottawa and government of Ontario, at Merivale Transmission Station to announce the completion of $46.9 million in transmission line upgrades. These critical upgrades will increase the electrical capacity of the power lines by 66 per cent, from 650MW to 1,080MW, providing a reliable supply of energy to support the growing demand in the Ottawa area. The project also allows for generation facilities in eastern Ontario to transfer more power to the rest of the province and import more clean energy from Quebec.

Government Launches EV ChargeON Program for Organizations in Ontario

The government of Ontario has launched the EV ChargeON program to increase the number of public EV charging stations across the province. The EV ChargeON program provides funding for the installation of public electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Ontario communities outside of major cities. EV ChargeON aims to increase the number of public EV charging stations throughout Ontario to build a more connected network, make public chargers more accessible and affordable, and encourage more people to switch to EVs.

SYNERGY NORTH Collaborates In Ontario Energy Board’s Innovation Sandbox Challenge

SYNERGY NORTH is a proud partner on a project that is a recent recipient of a major funding grant from the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). The OEB has announced funding for six projects to receive one-time total funding of $1.5 million to support innovation in the energy sector as part of its Innovation Sandbox Challenge. The Sandbox Challenge was launched in response to the feedback from the energy sector regarding the critical need for funding to support innovative projects.
