Recently, SaskTel announced it will launch SaskTel infiNET service in Indian Head, Maple Creek, and Rosetown as a result of the Crown corporation’s $200 million Rural Fibre Initiative. Delivering blazing fast internet speeds, SaskTel’s infiNET service allows customers to access the latest digital tools and technologies to socialize, learn, pursue economic opportunities, connect to healthcare and other government services. SaskTel anticipates select areas in all three communities will be fibre-ready by mid-November.

Wataynikaneyap Power is pleased to announce the energization of Wunnumin Lake First Nation. The northern Ontario community was energized on May 25, 2023, and connected to the provincial power grid on September 21, 2023. “This is a great achievement that will be felt in the community for generations to come,” Wunnumin Lake Chief Sam Mamakwa remarks. “Now that our load capacity is no longer restricted from diesel generators, Wunnumin Lake has been able to connect our new John George Martin Memorial School, which has space for students from junior kindergarten to Grade 10.”

NOTL Hydro Now Offering Green Button

Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro (NOTL Hydro) is now offering Green Button access to its customer data. Green Button is a standard which allows customers to access their data in a consistent manner across all locations and utilities (gas and electric) in Ontario.  With a simple and secure process, customers will be able to securely download (access) or connect (share) their energy usage data in an industry-standard format with registered third parties. As such, this tool will be particularly useful for customers with multiple locations.

Hydro-Québec inaugurates the Romaine complex, its largest hydroelectric complex since Baie-James. Its four generating stations have now all been commissioned. The complex has an installed capacity of 1,550 MW and annual energy output of 8 TWh—enough to supply 470,000 households. Its energy is clean, renewable and available on demand, and contributes directly to Québec’s prosperity and decarbonization.
